Mackenzie's dance training began under the direction of Jane Bittner and Patricia Berrend where she received rigorous training that laid the foundation for her career. She rounded out her training at American Dance Institute led by Runqiao Du. Mackenzie later furthered her education at the highly esteemed Boston Conservatory where she dedicated herself to her craft and graduated Magna Cum Laude in the B.F.A. Dance program.
During her time at the Conservatory, she trained under academic scholarship with Adriana Suarez. Mackenzie's repertoire boasts a rich collection of notable works, including those by esteemed choreographers such as Jose Limon, Bill T Jones, Thang Dao, Doug Varone, Karole Armitage, and Danny Burcazeski. Her interpretations and technical prowess have allowed her to breathe life into these iconic pieces, captivating audiences with her artistry.
Throughout her career, Mackenzie has had the privilege of working with companies and artists across dance styles and genres. She has danced with Carolina Ballet Theater, Bowen McCauley Dance and Repertory Dance Theater. Mackenzie has performed in dance films and commercials in both DC and New York. Mackenzie has worked/collaborated with esteemed choreographers including Peter Chu, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Hernan Justo, Ilana Goldman, Robert Moses, amongst others. With an unwavering commitment to her craft and a boundless creative spirit, Mackenzie Rawls continues to push the boundaries of dance, captivating the audience.
